The renewal of the BBZ residential estate pursues ambitious sustainability goals and is being developed according to the highest contemporary standards. The aim is to enhance the quality of living and housing while contributing to the federal government’s sustainability strategy.

The overarching concept prioritises the preservation of the existing structures wherever possible. Approximately one-third of the existing buildings will be modernised with a focus on sustainability, extended vertically and with room towers in timber construction. Structures slated for deconstruction will be recycled or properly disposed of in line with Minergie-ECO guidelines, with reuse concepts being developed.

The new housing annexes will improve the existing floor plans and strengthen the core estate. Garden rooms will add flexible living space to apartments, and all existing units will be renovated to meet the barrier-free standards of SIA 500. Corner apartments will offer exceptional living quality, with natural light entering from two sides, spacious private outdoor areas and extended balcony towers.
